Keepin' It 1600 podcast

About the Show

Keepin’ It 1600, podcast produced by Bill Simmons’ new venture, The Ringer, is a weekly deep dive into the collective toothache we refer to as the presidential election campaign.

Jon Favreau and Dan Pfeiffer, former advisers to President Obama, host a Ringer podcast to discuss the political world, Trump, Hillary, and all you need to know before November.Keepin' It 1600

It can be pretty “inside baseball” at times and, given the hosts’ backgrounds, it’s obviously a highly partisan look at the campaigns, but Favreau and Pfeiffer excel at using their knowledge of the process to give the listener some insight into the intent behind things said and done by both campaigns, and the likely effect they’ll have on voters.

From an editorial production point of view, there’s a nice easygoing vibe to their conversations. The audio is lightly edited, if at all, and they’re lighthearted communication style makes it enjoyable to listen to what could be some pretty dry stuff. (After all, let’s not forget these guys are professional communicators.)

Keepin’ It 1600 is obviously tied to the election, so afterward it would need to pivot (to borrow a political term…) in order to continue. Or, we wouldn’t be surprised if Favreau and Pfeiffer launch another podcast. They clearly enjoy it, and this one’s been very well received. In fact, as you’ll hear early in this episode, they’re adding another show starting next week, in order to keep up with the insane news cycle that is our national politics.
